Comfortable Cot | | Review Date: July 19, 2005 | | Reviewer: Gerald Albanese, Hopewell Jct, NY | | It's wonderful for sleeping in a tent. The cot was also used in the house during a slumber party. I wouldn't use it for a lounge chair. |
For camping? Good. For the deck? Think twice... | | Review Date: May 9, 2005 | | Reviewer: Victor Vail, Rockville, MD USA | This is a 2 part review of these cot/beds. 1) For camping? These are probably a good deal. (I'm not a camper, but I would imagine these would work pretty well for camping.) They are lightweight, fold & unfold easily, would function as a bed/chair pretty well. 2) For use on the deck? Think twice. I remember reading that these would make great lounge chairs - perfect for sunbathing (which is why I got them). Just remember - you get what you pay for. These were VERY inexpensive - and I can feel it, when sunning... The frame - while lightweight & probably great for camping - feels a little flimsy on the deck. I unfold the cot - into a chair position - making sure that all the adjustments are secure before sitting down in the chair - and, when I start to sit down, the chair jerks - as if it's about to collapse... It doesn't collapse, of course, but that "jerking" action causes by lower back to tense up... (And, since I have a bad back, this is not what I'd call a pleasant body reaction to sitting in the chairs...) When it's in the "cot" position (flat), the cot/bed is comfortable - although not wide enought to prevent my elbows from resting on the metal frame. (I'm 5'8" - weighing 165 lbs.) When it's in the "chair/lounge" position, it's actually a little uncomfortable - as there is an odd support (or lack of support) on the lower back... If the chair is angled so your feet are on the ground (instead of straight out - level with your hips), I actually start to slide out of the chair(!)... If I "scoot" myself up, high enough to avoid the "sliding out of the chair" business, my head winds up being high enough to rest on the metal frame... which again, isn't a great feeling. Would I get these again? No. But, they were cheap - and will function ok until I find something better. |
